Type2, Class C, Class II PV Surge Protector Device SPD for PCB mount
Surge protector requirements of PV inverter manufacturers have evolved. To save space in the cabinets, the manufacturers have decided to replace DIN rail surge protectors with PCB-mounted SPDs: these ones are designed to be mounted directly inside the inverters, soldered on the internal PCB. Beyond PV applications, the AC version of these PCB-mounted SPDs could also be used for other applications, where high integration and lower costs are required (i.e charging stations for electrical vehicles). LSP has developed two dedicated product ranges: SLP20P-PV (PV power SPD) and SLP20P (AC power SPD)
The SLP20P-PV range (Type 2) is designed to protect the DC side of photovoltaic inverters.
The single-pole module must be soldered on a PCB, in parallel to the DC network.
Every configuration (Y-diagram, V diagram-circuit, Delta diagram) can be realized, related to the application.
The pin-out of the module is the same regardless of the version (T2) or Ucpv voltage, facilitating the switching from one to the other.

Application:
In order to reach the relevant specifications, the PCB where the SLP20P or SLP20P-PV SPDs will be used must be carefully designed by the customer.

Al: The grading of the surge protector (commonly known as lightning protection) Is assessed according to the IEC61024 subdivision lightning protection theory, which is installed at the junction of the partition. Technical requirements and functions differ. The first-stage lightning protection device is installed between the 0-1 zone, high for the flow requirement, the minimum requirement of EN 61643-11 / IEC 61643-11 is 40 ka (8/20), and the second and third levels are installed between the 1-2 and 2-3 zones, mainly to suppress the overvoltage.
